Mortise and tenon step stool.
Mortise and tenon foot stool.
I am doing this with hand t.
A few of the projects in this collection use only hand tools and other features include angled joinery curves and mortise and tenon joinery.
In this instructable i will take you through a simple mortise and tenon based footstool.
Two sides contains the angled joints while the other two contained the straight ones.
Making the mortise and tenon s in this built there was a mix of straight mortise and tenon s and angled ones too.
Position your clamps and slowly draw the stool together.
Work carefully move slowly and be patient.
Once the joint fits well remove the tenon piece and secure it perpendicular to the workbench.
This creates the slot for a wedge.
Getting the stool together and apart again won t be easy.
Re insert the tenon and tap a wedge of equal width into the slot using a hammer.
The legs were joined with thru mortise and tenons and the tenons left proud and chamfered for aesthetics.
My finished stool measured out to be about 16 long roughly 5 inches tall and 8 inches wide.
Listen for creaks and groans and watch for splits.
